Tell Us Your KTUH Story

KTUH, UH Manoa's college radio station, is preparing to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2009, and the station staff would like your assistance in telling the KTUH story.

We're interested in gathering stories of KTUH's history from folks who have been involved with the station as directors and deejays or as even as listeners. Been a part of the Speech Com Department in the 60's? Helped get the station to the North Shore, Hawaii Kai, or Windward side? Did you donate money to get the station to 3000 watts? Were you the one who played jazz in the 70's? Do you just love KTUH?

Please email us at 40years@ktuh.org with your stories, scanned photos, or contact information. Please include your name, time spent at KTUH, and anything you want to tell us. You may also leave a message at (808) 956-7431 or send physical mail to:

2445 Campus Road
Hemenway Hall #203
Honolulu, HI 96822

So please let us know about your experience with Hawaii's Only Alternative, quality college radio, KTUH.

The Late Show @ The Dragon 10/9/09 featuring Seph1

October 9, 2009 Friday Night

The Late Show @ The Dragon
featuring Seph1 on some spoken word and vocals.
------------------------------------------------------------

Seph1 is a member of Tempo Valley, a local hip hop group with a all of their own original tunes. I'd describe him as one of the most natural/free-flowing lyricists here in Hawaii.

Joining him will be:
On vocals: Santino "Tino" Sgambuleri - a Guam native with extreme
range and phrasing akin to Kenny Washington.

On Keyboard: Ikaika "Ike" Tecson - a local pianist originally from
Kaneohe. Influences: Oscar Peterson, Robert Glasper, Hiromi Uehara.
Ike currently has several projects that involve blending different
styles of music into Jazz.

On Drums: Salvatore Di Amore - another Guam native with a knack for
inventing rhythmical devices and sub divisions you won't hear from
many other drummers.

On Bass: Steve Jones - another local, born and raised in Hawaii. Steve
is Hawaii's most called upon bass player for many of the greats. Steve
is recognized for his dexterity, musicality, and overall sense of
form.
I hope everyone had a good First Friday! (I hope you're still not
recovering like me...)

 Shoots,
>

Gooodbyyye from Kizzy Mac on Vimeo.

ApSci (Quannum Records) is in the building

Apsci
is a alternative hip hop group consisting primarily of Bronx native
Ra Lamotta and his Filipino-Australian wife Dana Diaz-Tutaan.
The duo, which has been performing together since meeting in 1998, have received added attention after being signed to underground hip hop label Quannum Projects in2004. The band name is a portmanteau of "applied science."

They stopped thru Hawaii last year with Zig and Mirrah of Australia and did a show with Tempo Valley at NextDoor in Chinatown and also went up to KTUH (shout out to Bones and the "Got Rice Show").

On the last stop here they put together the final pieces to this video:
"Under Control"
